On the &quot;single capability&quot; question: for a research director the honest answer might not be a feature at all, it&#39;s whether the record survives the person. The test I&#39;d apply to any of these systems: pick an experiment from two years ago, run by someone who has since left, and ask a new hire to reconstruct it from the system alone. No asking around, no tribal knowledge. If they can do it, the platform is trustworthy in the way that matters for reproducibility. If they can&#39;t, then audit trails and e-signatures are decorating a record that still depends on people&#39;s memories, and every departure quietly deletes part of your science.
